Sorry I can't attend the reunion. I've really enjoyed reading what everyone's been doing. Thanks, David Bruhwiler and Kim Randall, for letting me know about this website. I live in Hawaii and work at the University of Hawaii, College of Education managing projects. I've been married for 7 years and have a nearly two-year old boy. Please post how to contribute to the memorial to our classmates.

Dr. Randle was in a bad motor vehicle accident in 1995 and had some bad knee and other orthopedic injuries. I was her 'Physical terrorist' for part of her rehab. This was in 1995 or 96. She was a tough cookie through all that! She is good friends w/ Ms. Nesbitt who came to see her often while she was in rehab. I haven't heard anything since then.

Yeah, but they're not in Memphis anymore, so that's a good thing! ? Anyway, I liked Mr. Murphy. As far as teachers go, I suppose some of them are still in the area and I noticed a lot of teachers among our ranks. Are y'all putting those address lists and e-mail systems to good use? Is anyone aware of teachers who have passed away? I had heard Dr. Randle had a few years ago (and if she didn't, please forgive me). That would be something to share.

I have to respond to the comments about Mr. Owen and Mr. Murphy. I thought I was the only one who found it scary that they were now in Desoto County. It's good to know that I'm not alone. I, too, graduated from Bellevue and Central and while I am several years younger, I am old enough to appreciate the remarks about them and the teachers (because I had them, too)! Good luck with the reunion!

I can't believe 20 years has rolled around already. I missed the 10 year reunion. I hope to make the 20 yr this weekend. So sorry to hear about those who passed away. Does anyone know what happened to Thalia Kapos? Steve Yager, congrats on the new baby. Have you talked or heard from Edward Higginbotham lately? Michelle Washburn Doris and I still keep in touch. She has 2 handsome young boys. Is there anyone from the orchestra group out there? If so it would be nice to hear from you.

A good number of people have indicated that they are paying when they get here, because of not knowing if they'll be able to attend the entire weekend or just one/two events. It doesn't look like a lot right now, but I have heard from a good many people, so I'm hoping the turnout will be pretty good. Hey, we're going to rock, regardless. :)laurie

Hey, folks. Looks like I'm not going to make it for the reunion, after all, but I have enjoyed reading all the comments. Thank you, Frank, for passing them on. I'm glad to see that I am not the only one in this neck of the woods. Kateh, Laura, we are an easy train ride from midtown Manhattan. We lived on the upper west side until our oldest ran out of crawling space--figured we better move if we wanted him to learn to walk! Madison is a great small town, and our house looks a lot like my old one in Central Gardens. After finishing college at "Memphis State," I worked in MD, outside DC, for--what else?--a magazine publisher. In 1990, Chris and I moved to NYC where I freelanced in graphic design until I landed a staff position at a great corporate i.d. (logos, etc.) design firm. I went back to freelancing (more publishing) when we moved to NJ. Finally, it seemed kind of crazy to pay our nanny from the city to raise our son while we commuted back into the city, so I quit. My job now is the hardest I've ever had, but raising our 3 beautiful children has the best rewards. Nicholas, Hallie Mae, and Noah will be 6, 4, and 2 by the 20th. Sorry we won't get to show them off. I hope you have a great reunion. Thank you, committee folks, for all your work. Please keep me posted on the memorial plans for Kate and the others. I was so very sorry to hear the news of their deaths. Now that we are finally connected, I'll keep an eye on the guestbook for more information, and, later, for some crazy reunion stories--have fun!

Okay, so seeing as I had nothing else to do this morning, I looked at DeSoto County School's website. *It* says that Mr. Owen is the principal there (and Coach Murphy is an AP). Any of you who didn't go to Bellevue wouldn't have an appreciation of just how scary that is. Imagine us, having escaped Mr. Owen for the welcoming smile of Mrs. Leffler, only to have Mr. Owen follow us there!!!

Alright people, this is going to be FUN. Now get serious about it. (hehe)!!!!! The Distraxshuns are a very awesome R&B Memphis Sound band playing at 10 at the High Point Pinch party on Friday nite (otherwise known as the get reaquainted party) We are going to get more than reaquainted, we are going to PARTEE. This is straight from our own class! Alan Wyse is the keyboard player! Come to the party! Sign up today! Then Saturday at Ellendale park show off your little ones-- and big'ens too! Great for the family! Then Sat nite we will have an awesome dj at our banquet! -- in fact email me your requests now and he'll be sure to have them there! He has EVERYTHING but can't bring it all so please ask for what you want. This is going to be so fun. The committee also designed some cool new T shirts, with a custom logo that will be available only on a limited basis (not the one mentioned on the site), so order yours today online at the J2 website. If you are remotely planning on attending the reunion, please call or write to J-2 Class Reunions to get on the list. If you are planning to pay at the door, you still need to contact J2, e-mail them via their website, give your address and phone numbers for the directory they are putting together. They are going by the forms returned by mail or via the website. I'm sure they'll take it by phone if you want to call. Even if you can't come, fill in the information for the directory. Thanks.

Too Tall, I have been developing a strict new work-out regimen consisting of short wind sprints from the couch to the fridge 4 times nightly. As a reward for making it all the way without stopping I have an ice cream sandwich and then sprint back to the couch before the commercials are over. This helps develop the fast-twitch muscles that sprinters are known for. I am also working on developing a variety of substitute rewards.

Hey everyone, Have all good intentions of being there for some of the reunion extravaganza. I must say it freaks me out a little. I mean, 20 years? Dear God. I just finished grad school (MFA in creative writing--the least marketable degree in higher education) and moved back to the NYC area (Hoboken's right across the Hudson). Am living with my boyfriend and my 17-year-old dog and am about as happy as I can be. Only more freelance work would make me happier, but all in good time. Looking forward to catching up with everyone in September (oh, Jerome Burt, my date from the 10th reunion, is planning on coming, in case you haven't heard from him--I'll get a deposit in soon, promise.). Power to the Memphis Central Warriors' Class of 1982 from Monique Sugarmon. I'm livin' a little shy of medium these days, but very far from livin' large. Hangin' in there in this concrete/corporate jungle in Washington, DC. I WOULD be in the Nation's Capital at THIS time when the country is on High Alert and there's chaos and disorder everywhere! I'm doing lots of Transcendental Meditation baby, thanks to the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (who kicked it with the Beatles in the 1960's. Check out www.mum dot edu.) Anyway I'm totally caught up in the rat race, but all about my spiritual development/evolvement at this present moment in time. My constant thought is to be in the world yet not of the world. Check out any of the books by Paramahansa Yogananda of India. He totally changed my life. Also any of the 12 books of the St. Germain Foundation are a mind blowing experience. Gonna learn Kriya Yoga soon. Check out www.babaji.ca. Was married. Not impressed; think marriage is overrated. Jesus Christ is and will always be my one and only true love. What can I say. Check out the book: Conversations With God - Book 3 for an interesting discussion of marriage. As far as my personal life is concerned, I'm with the underground and basically kickin' it with the counter culture as a total beatnik. I wish you peace in yo' 'hood and may God Bless Jesus, Allah, Budah, Krishna, all the Saints, Sages and those yet to be, and most especially...You!! Peace Out! : o)

We will be planning another meeting, one more before the party, to talk about our 'agenda' that evening. We will have a DJ the night of the dance. Anybody who would like to volunteer to say something special about our deceased classmates, please let us know. We would like to do something as a small memorial to them that night. Just write directly to someone on the committee list. The more volunteers the better! Also, if you have something you want to share w/ us as a group, (ie singing, stripping, showing off muscles, massages......) we could add that in too! Laurie is off line at the moment so I am writing on her behalf. She plans on doing a stand-up comedy act (just kidding). Spread the word and send in $$$$. Bye for now!

Hello Central Warriors! Can't believe it has been twenty years. Currently, I live in Cordova and work for Shelby County Schools. I have worked for the system for 12 years serving as regular classroom teacher, APEX teacher(same thing as Clue in the City Schools-Gifted and Talented Program), and currentl an APEX consultant to the high schools(Germantown, Bolton, Millington, and Houston). Never thought I would end up in the education profession but I do enjoy it. It is great being able to work with the Gifted and Talented Poplulation and help them plan out their high school years in IEP meetings. Graduated from the U of M with a Business Degree and then got a masters degree in Education. Still going to school taking courses to learn how to teach English as a Second Language. I guesss I will never stop going to school! It is great to read all of the comments on the site. I hope to see everyone at the reunion. Perge! Interesting comment- I too ran into Mr. White about a year ago in Dillard's. Do you know the man remembered me and stopped to talk. He really is a nice guy! I saw Mr. White at an Italian car show last weekend. He was so friendly and nice! I guess I never paid much attention , I always thought of him as 'the enemy' b/c he was Assistant Principal. He introduced me to his three children, who are teenagers now, one just graduated from Central. He acted like he remembered me ( mainly by association w/ my bad, big sister , Raquel, who was always getting into trouble, especially w/ Mrs. Leffler!) I told him about our reunion. Do the teachers get invitations? Anyway, I'm glad I stopped and introduced myself.

We received the Reunion Newsletter/Invitation. As the hour is late, Tracy is fast asleep. But I (her husband, Tom Word - Class '81) was checking out the website. Tracy Tims (Word) married her high-school sweetheart, and we have been married for 17 years. We actually started "going together" the summer of her 9th grade in 1979 (23 years ago!). We have 3 boys: Gates (8 )– goes to SNOWDEN – with Missy Brown’s offspring), Grayson (4) and Parker (2). We live in Mid-Town and have plans to be at the reunion. Seeing the names in the guestbook bring back a lot of the "hershey bar details" - (Miss Eddington) -of high school. It’s good to see the names of some of those “Bobcats”, before they were “Warriors” – Floyd Holiday, Marvin Davis, Jay-Jai Boyd, and Cedric Brown, among others.

hi everyone. I just got my invitation today and hope to attend in sept. I live in a little town in northern ill. that looks like mayberry. I came up here, ready for this, to go to bible college. I met my wife of almost eleven years, joan, there and we have a 4 year old daughter. I work as a carpenter for a custom remodeler building 500,00 dollar additions on one and two million dollar homes. Laurie, one of my strongest memories of chs is mr. duncans german class where you took some of us to the back of the room and knocked us out with some kind of vulcan death grip. i've lost most of my hair now and cringe when i look at my annual but am looking forward to seeing some of you again in sept.

I have spoken with Aaron Patterson and he has assured me he will add his comments to the guestbook (hey, that was 4 months ago, Aaron!!)and that he will attend the reunion. Laurie Holder

Wow! It's been a blast reading comments and thinking back to '82. I'm also thinking about what a doofus I was way back then, and unfortunately still am. I live here in Memphis and my husband Stephen (also a doofus) and I have two kids, a 13 year old boy and a 13 month old girl. They are most definitely NOT doofuses (or is it doofi? Mrs. Nesbitt would know the answer). My husband is a tennis pro who runs the public tennis facilities here in Memphis, and we've worked together in that business for about the past ten years. I do leagues, tournaments and events mostly, and work part-time. I can't wait to party "old school" with yall!

Nope, I didn't make the 10 yr invite list either. But that's OK. Anyway, Stacy's little sister is Leigh. I have talked to Stacy and she is planning on attending the reunion. She is a full time mom with three kids living in New Jersey. She doesn't have email, and she is still the sweetest girl I ever met.

Well, I'm glad I wasn't the only one left off the invitation list of our 10 year reunion! I found out we had one from Stacy Powell's younger sister (she worked w/ me). It hurt my feelings --a little :( Anybody know how to reach Stacy? I can't remember her sister's name at the moment. We need to all work on finding all our classmates, the reunion will be coming up sooner that we expect. It is going to be great and I am looking forward to a big turn out, but we all have to really help w/ finding our classmates. I will try to remember Stacey's sisters name and give her a call. Hope all is well w/ everybody.

Hello again Class of '82. I thought I would just drop a quick note let you guys know how great it is to read these entries and remember, or at least try to remember you guys. Time sure does fly....I can't believe or should I say I don't want to believe its been twenty (20) years. WOW. Just recently, this Easter to be exact, my husband and I had a rather large dinner for family and friends and I finally got to see my sisters Airienne and LaTisha. It was GREAT. Although I do get to Memphis every year or so I am seriously contemplating attending this reunion if for no other reason than to see some of faces and friends from the past. For those of you who still reside in Memphis I may be there for the big fight as my husband is a huge fight fan and is working like a madman to get tickets. I'm not quite as enthusiastic but it may be a good reason to play a few slots.....Enough for now, I hope everyone is well and as blessed as I am. My home e-mail is attached so drop a line if you remember me. Take care everyone. Andrea Harvey-Cole in Bowie, MD (suburb of Wash.DC)

Hey Warriors, First & foremost I would like to apologize for any vagueness that may have been presented in my previous message, in giving remembrance to some of our most cherished and honored Warriors. Ms. Andrea Pryor (Ross) was the dear soul we lost just recently. Although Andrea was a member of the Class of 81’ she is still a very special part of the Class of 82’ as well, and we miss you dearly Ms. A. One other tidbit of information, taking into consideration how we were the partygoers and trendsetters, what a great class! In addition to bringing “The Time” & “Vanity 6” CD’s, this other piece of vinyl is a MUST especially since it was released in 1982. Michael Jackson released Thriller in 1982, which sold more than 25 million copies, becoming the biggest-selling album in music history. Ya heard!!! Terry Randolph trgoup at attbi dot com

I am currently in my second marrage. this one has lasted 16 years. i was married the first time for 1 year. I have no children from either marrage. I hope to find a way to be at the reunion. Mine is still really red, and I'm still really short. What do your students think of Ms. Too Tall Stovall, anyway, Lisa?

Since the redheaded hip chick is asking.....I've been in Memphis since college grad. I'm a project manager for a local architectural/engineering firm, been married 10 years and have two sons ages six and three. I didn't have grey hair one until the kids came along. The youngest is a redhead, and he is truly making me old quick. Fiery, attitude, temper. Kinda like Kim at yearbook meetings.

Greetings. I am living outside of Boston with my wonderful, handsome (he's watching me write this) husband and two girls, five and three. They are all delightful. We live in a fairly rural area with lots of woods and wildlife. We enjoy hiking and skiing and visiting Cape Cod. My most recent job was as a manager in product development at Duracell. They moved my job to CT and I decided for an early retirment almost three years ago. I have degrees in mechanical and materials engineering and hope to teach college engineering when the girls are in school fulltime. I can't believe its been twenty years since high school. Seems like if Michael Jackson can make a comeback, then we can too. Will we be able to do pompon routines at the reunion? FYI, Paul Garrison was the only brave soul to attempt Beowulf in Old English in AP English with "Mrsssss. AAAAAdington".

Do any of you remember the quote, "None Better, Few as Good"? Most of you heard it!! But your minds may not be as sharp as mine. Do you remember the opening lines to the Canterbury Tales? Boy those were the good ole' days. As you should recall, I was the youngest graduate in our class. I was 10yrs old, when I graduated from Central(I was merely tall for my age). Sooooo, I really look forward to seeing all of you older folks. I'm now married(Cheldon) with two kids, Shawntel(10) and Cole(3) they are pretty cool kids, if I must say so myself. I'm an overworked and exhausted Systems Engineer residing in Washington, DC. I'm stuck commuting most days in locked down traffic dreaming about Southern Living - the mini-mansions of Collierville, Cordova and Germantown. I was thinking that it would be great if the band reunited and gave us a number or two, if the majorettes gave us a little diddy and the cheerleaders built a nice pyramid. The Football team & the AAA Championship Basketball team could give us a quick little exhibition. We could time Jeff Jacobs running the 440. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about all the possibilities. Take Care!!!

WHHHAAASSSUUUPPP! (We actually invented that -- with the help of '81 graduate Jill Zlotky. Those budweiser people stole it from us.) So, how is the world treating you? Or more importantly, how are you treating the world? Let us all know by keeping in touch, visiting this site and coming to the events for 2002, where we can all be old together (but feel young). I've hung around this area for years, can't seem to get Memphis out of my blood, maybe 'cause my family's mostly here. They actually pay me to draw stuff and think of unwitty puns at my work.
